The incident is remarkable, but the larger question matters more. As AI systems move from generating responses to pursuing objectives across tools, networks and organizational infrastructure, traditional monitoring is no longer enough. We need to understand not only what a system is doing, but what its actions are becoming.
Autonomy without observability does not produce control. It produces distance between action and understanding.
That distance is where the next generation of organizational risk will emerge.
