For more than twenty years, Yonemura has continued developing SHIRYU while the technologies around it kept changing. His conclusion is particularly relevant now. AI may have weakened the idea that spending years on something automatically makes it valuable. But it has not weakened the value of choosing to hold on to something for years.
That distinction may become increasingly important. When execution becomes abundant, judgment becomes scarce. The question is no longer only what we can make faster, but what we still believe is worth carrying forward.
