Never Accept a Silent Rewrite

AI can improve an email, proposal, report, or article in seconds. It can make the language clearer, sharper, and more persuasive.

It can also quietly change what you meant.

A tentative observation may become a confident claim. A firm boundary may be softened. A fact you never supplied may appear naturally inside an otherwise excellent paragraph. The result reads better, so the intervention becomes harder to notice.

Whenever you ask AI to rewrite something important, don’t request only the finished version. Ask for a brief account of what happened to your words.

Use this instruction:

Rewrite this for clarity, but preserve my meaning. Then list any substantive changes, new claims, or decisions you made on my behalf.

The second part matters as much as the rewrite itself. It turns invisible intervention into something you can inspect.

This isn’t about distrusting every edit. It’s about keeping authorship visible. AI can improve the expression, but clarity and intention are not always the same thing.
